Low-Code Platforms Can Leverage the Five forces Driving Innovation

Posted by Brooke Winaker

We see Five Forces driving innovation in the coming years, and we have a way of leveraging them using low-code:

  1. AI continues its rise to solve problems in ways we’ve never seen before
  2. The Internet of Things will begin to feel a lot more real as devices beyond our phones become a bigger part of our lives— Alexas, Fitbits, and smart fridges are only the beginning.
  3. Blockchain changes how we think about currency and contracts, but more importantly how we think about trust across the ever-growing internet.
  4. Startups remain important bastions of innovation as tech giants become increasingly incumbent.
  5. Data explodes; we’ll have more than we know what to do with, and it won’t be an option to ignore it anymore.

To keep up with these momentous shifts, companies who aren’t Amazon, Google, or Facebook must avoid getting bogged down by the code of it all. Not everyone can field a team of expert programmers to make full use of these emerging technologies.

But what if they don’t have to? Even the most unique business problems can often be solved by merely assembling existing innovations in a new way. And for the many more common problems facing businesses everywhere, why should anyone reinvent the wheel? This is where low-code platforms shine. These tools let companies lacking major technical strengths access the latest innovations. Instead of these businesses being left behind, emerging technology can propel them through the rapidly evolving market.

Low-code has been a seemingly unattainable goal for many years. Now, thanks to the maturity of containers, standardization among API structures, and the general shift of most database and UI applications towards a cooperative ecosystem mindset, a low-code platform can now thrive.

Take Interplay, an Iterate.ai low-code middleware with dozens of modules that snap together in a drag-and-drop interface to create full applications. Most Interplay modules are pre-wrapped pieces of code that allow you to connect with outside APIs, ranging from enterprise ecosystems to cutting edge startup technologies. These can seamlessly access various data sources as well as provide AI processing such as speech recognition, pattern matching, and computer vision. Other modules let you combine these data streams into a cohesive and stunning user experience.

Interplay can leverage each of these five forces driving innovation: we currently include AI modules in several applications for our clients.  Interplay utilizes cameras and IoT machine controllers to engage with retail customers. We can hook to blockchain record-keeping for trust among contractual entities.  Interplay can connect and leverage startups‘ unique applications to the extent that it can interact with the startup’s APIs.  Throughout all of this, is data— mountains of data.  Interplay thrives on data.

Iterate.ai firmly believes that companies can produce state-of-the-art complex web and mobile-based applications without the requirement of a full in-house development team. To date, our Interplay platform has been deployed in real-world applications for the following:

  • Curbside checkout
  • License plate recognition
  • Headless e-commerce
  • Customer ID verification
  • X-Ray pattern matching
  • Natural language chatbots

We will continue to build out the Interplay low-code platform. If you have a business case that 1) has a huge pile of data, 2) needs some sort of AI applied, and 3) needs to appeal to your customers smartly, please contact us right away– we’re confident that Interplay can drive you forward.
