WA Health is Western Australia’s public health system. We work to improve, promote and protect the health of Western Australians by: • caring for individuals and the community • caring for those who need it most • making the best use of funds and resources • supporting our team. Our services include: • public hospitals and community health services • health protection through public health services and disaster preparedness management • mental health services including inpatient services, crisis management and community treatment and support services • dental health services including school dental health and public community dental services • Aboriginal health services. WA Health consists of the Department of Health, five Health Service Providers and Health Support Services. The five Health Service Providers include: • North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) • South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) • East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) • Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) • WA Country Health Service (WACHS). Across the six areas, we employ 50,000 staff and provide health services across the state of Western Australia to around 2.3 million people in metropolitan, rural and remote areas. The Department of Health operates under the Director General of Health, Dr D J Russell-Weisz, and reports to the Minister for Health; Mental Health, the Hon. Amber-Jade Sanderson BA MLA.
